About the Book:

Where did we go wrong? Is my son a mistake? How do I love my child well? Is there hope?

Are you a parent struggling with these questions and many more?

In Not A Mistake, Jim Domen writes of his personal journey, growing up with same-sex attraction, his parents' response when he "came out," his prodigal return, and his ongoing struggles as he leads his wife, his children, and his ministry to serve Christ Jesus.

Jim Domen shares his personal stories and the stories of many others who grapple with same-sex attraction.

Compassionately written with deep personal reflection, Not A Mistake provides an essential biblically-based resource for parents, family, and friends of loved ones with same-sex attraction. Jim addresses all of the central questions, from using preferred pronouns to attending gay weddings and parenting children who identify as LGBTQ.

Most important of all – the essential message is this:

Your parenting is not a mistake.

Your child is not a mistake.

ENDORSEMENTS

“Jim courageously witnesses to his own struggle while championing the Gospel that liberates life. That gives him authority to guide parents whose faith collides with the moral decisions of their children. Now a parent himself, Jim’s story is a bridge for divided families. Jesus transforms—Jim helps us to believe Him for it!”
— Andrew Comiskey, Founding Director of Desert Stream Ministries, Kansas City, Missouri
“LGBT is not only a political issue; it is a personal and family heartache! Jim Domen’s story is unique because he is authentic and candid with the harsh realities and details of the desperate relational neediness for acceptance as well as the corruption of indiscriminate sexual pleasure. His truthfulness helps dispel many myths, and this inspires the Church to improve Pastoral Care as well as believers to learn how to serve people like Jim with the love of Jesus. Family and friends, as well as mental health professionals, will appreciate the understanding of how Jim’s parents assisted his Home Coming as well as Jim’s growth in his masculinity through the love from his father. The revelation that Jim realized was, ‘Jesus is my Savior, and my Lord!’ Christian faith is an indisputable and transformative power (as always with people’s struggles). Jim is happy with his life (I met him first in Taiwan while he was leading a Global ‘Rainbow Crosser’ Festival), my wife and I enjoyed his fellowship and leadership so much. On behalf of some like-minded movements around the world, ‘Thank you, Jim, for leading us in the frontlines! We’re so proud of you!’ ”
— Melvin Wong, PhD,  偉康博士 California Licensed Psychologist, San Francisco
“This endearing book is so intimately written that it almostfeels like you’re in it yourself, sometimes wiping tears, as youread about a family finding healing. It’s a story about pain, thepower of love, and the freedom that real honesty unleashes. As one of Jim’s professors at Azusa Pacific University (Azusa,California), I can attest to the agony of his struggle and thetruth of his resolve to choose life. His voice is crying out onbehalf of everyone who longs to connect (not merely converse)with their father.”
— Sarah Sumner, PhD, MBA, President of Right On Mission, United States
